UNESCO’s executive board approved the measure by consensus in its morning session. A draft of the resolution had already been approved by a commission last week. On Thursday, Israel suspended its ties with UNESCO over the measure. The resolution brands Israel as QUOTE an “occupying power” and condemns the regime for restricting Muslims’ access to al-Aqsa mosuqe. UNESCO’s resolution also slams the aggression of Israeli police and soldiers against people visiting the holy site. Israel occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds during the 19-67 war. The move has consistently drawn condemnation from the international community.
