Syrian FM categorically denies involvement in Idlib chemical attack

Syria once again rejects allegations that it was behind Tuesday’s deadly chemical attack in the city of Idlib. Muallem said his country is a member of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. He said the attack does not even bear the hallmarks of an airstrike as others claim. The Syrian Foreign Minister added that the attack was conducted to serve as a pretext for an anti-Syria campaign. Muallem pointed out that foreign-backed militants want to achieve something they failed to gain in international talks. The top Syrian diplomat went on to say that his government has time and again reported to the UN Security Council about the use of chemical weapons by the militants. Muallem rapped the United States and its allies for making allegations against Syria, saying Washington is itself killing civilians in Syria and getting away with it.
