The US president has warned of additional actions in Syria if he deems necessary. Donald Trump gave details of a missile strike on a military airfield in Homs province in a letter to Congress. The president said he acted in vital national security and foreign policy interests of the US. Trump stressed that he gave the order of the action to degrade the Syrian military’s ability to conduct further chemical attacks. He said he was writing to Congress to keep it informed according to the War Powers Resolution, a 1973 measure mandating the US president to notify Congress of military action. US missile strikes came as the Syrian government rejected using chemical weapons in Idlib and condemned foreign-backed militants for stockpiling chemicals.
