The Pentagon claimed a Syrian military convoy was heading towards their positions, when they decided to issue a warning; this was ignored, so the Coalition attacked the convoy.
Al-Masdar reached out to the Syrian military for details regarding today’s attack by the U.S. Coalition; so far, this is what’s known:
- The U.S. Coalition warplane entered Syrian airspace from the Jordanian border
- A convoy of five T-62 tanks were hit by the U.S. Coalition
- Two tanks were destroyed
- A Shilka was damaged
- Six military personnel were killed and another three were wounded
- Convoy consisted of soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), National Defense Forces (NDF), Hezbollah, and Imam Al-‘Ali Battalions

The US secretary of defense says his country does not want to get more involved in the Syrian war hours after the US targeted a pro-government Syrian convoy in Homs province. James Mattis says the US military will however defend itself if attacked. US officials say the attacked Syrian convoy seemed to be transporting militiamen to a garrison near the Jordanian border. The US-led coalition says the strike occurred inside a de-confliction zone, where British and US commandos have been training local forces against Daesh. Washington says the purpose of its presence in Syria is to fight the Daesh terror group, but many civilians have fallen victim to its indiscriminate airstrikes.
This while at least 50 people, including women and children, were killed and some 100 more injured following an attack by self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) in the village of Aqareb el-Safi, east of Hama, Thursday. What appears to be going on:
a) A build-up of Coalition forces, US and British, training the”opposition,” yes we have heard the song before for the last six years, along the Jordanian Border. For the last six years the Jordanian and Saudi Borders have been a sieve for ISIL terrorists entry into both Iraq and Syria, funded, armed, trained and supported by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Morocco, Jordan, Israel on the Golan Heights and Turkey acting as a sieve through Syria’s northern Border.
b) The Syrian Assad forces are now moving east towards Deir ez Zur to free the eastern region of Syria from ISIL in preparation for the main target which is now Raqqa.
Syria: SAA continue offensive to end two year siege of Deir ez-Zur,Forces of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued to their offensive to gain control of Deir ez-Zur on Wednesday, as the battle for the area continues between the SAA and the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants.Backed by air support by Syrian and Russian air forces, the SAA targeted the IS positions using tanks and machine guns. SAA reportedly managed to advance towards eastern Palmyra’s Arak Gas Field, a strategic area held by IS, aiming to end the two year siege of Deir ez-Zur.
c) Iraqi forces moving along the border in co-ordination with the Assad Syrian Army to secure the border between Iraq and Syria from ISIL. Mosul is still undergoing a clearing out of ISIL forces by the Iraqi army.
Iraqi forces have gained more grounds in their fight against Daesh militants in the northern city of Mosul. The Popular Mobilization Units have retaken an air base in al-Qairawan district in western Mosul. Iraq’s army has already liberated most of the city from Daesh terrorists. Military sources say 12 square kilometers of the city, which amounts to nearly 10 percent of its western part, is still under Daesh control. That means the army has recaptured 98 percent of Mosul.
The evacuation of civilians from the Sabat Ashar Tammuz neighborhood of Mosul, continued on Thursday, as the Iraqi forces advanced on areas held by Daesh
d) The objective of the US Coalition forces in conjunction with the “opposition rebels “who in all likelihood are “mercenary forces”employed by oil companies, is to secure eastern Syria, Palmyra and Deir-ez Zur from the south and Raqqa in the north in conjunction with the Kurds( supported by Israel) in order to divide Syria in half and maintain the regions oil reserves in the eastern part of Syria.
This will also secure a pathway for oil and gas pipelines from Qatar and Saudi Arabia through Syria to Turkey and then on to Europe. Basically restore the territory taken over by ISIL in 2014 when they came out of Mosul fully equipped with Toyota Trucks and established an oil trading route through Iraq and eastern Syria into Turkey shipping stolen oil to Erdogan’s son and then onto Israel, the US and other buyers at reduced rates. Until Russia bombed their oil convoys in 2015. ….
